i have a little puppy and although the breeder told me he is purebred, i'm having people ask me if he's a jack russell. i don't have any papers for him other than medical history. i saw the mom and dad dog at the breeder's home also. i don't know if it's normal for chihuahua's ears to stay floppy, but at 4 months, his hasn't gone up. i love my dog REGARDLESS. i am just curious to know what someone who has more experience with chihuahuas thinks.

Hi, I just joined and saw your question. I have raised chihuahuas for over 30 years and both parents look like chihuahuas. Their conformation is more deerhead than applehead and that is why people think he looks like a Jack Russell terrier.

im really glad i came across this post. i got two chihuahuas last year, they have papers and i saw the parents. one is tiny and long haired, the other, a full brother apparently, is short haired ( dad was long, mum was short ) but he is huge and people keep asking if he has corgi in him!
having seen these pics, he looks a lot like the parents featured, so that has reassured me!
