Dear, there's no way we could begin to say how they died without an examination, and apparently an examination couldn't show how they died either; necropsies should be performed. What it does sound like is some kind of poisoning. Did you feed them both any chocolate or raisins or macadamia nuts? It doesn't take many raisins or mac nuts for dogs to fall ill, but to suddenly die, it might be something that was more longterm (like if you'd fed grapes or raisins over a period of time). Household poisons (cleaning agents) and some plants are also very toxic to dogs.Whatever it was, I'm truly sorry for your loss. I hope that if you do get new dogs that you doggie proof your home and brush up on the toxins that can kill dogs (stupid things, like grapes and raisins, onions, macadamia nuts, chocolate, xylitol...things that don't harm us but can kill small dogs).

You don't give enough information about the situation for me to hazard much of a guess. However, a loss of balance (acting drunk), followed by vomiting and death, coupled with the fact that both dogs had the same problem shouts antifreeze toxicity. However, without testing, no one is going to be able to give you a real answer. A necropsy on the bodies would give you your best answer.
