POMERANIAN. Oh my god, they are so cute. They don't get much bigger than like a breadbox, and even when they bark it sounds cute. Google some pics maybe? I love them.

I prefer the Yorkie,as most of them are kick back little pets.I have two of them and they are well behaved and mind better than my kids. They also aren't as snapy as the Chihuahua and love everyone.

Yorkie's and chihuahua's are an excellent choice but have you also considered the Jack Russell? Friendly, lovable, robust little characters? Its entirely up to you of course which breed you have but living in an apartment should be no bar to having a dog! Best of luck to you, i hope you find what you're looking for.

Pugs are a good dog, not very big, don't bark much, and very people friendly. These dogs are very friendly and love to cuddle, yet will also play when you want to. Good luck.

Any small dog is good for an apartment... temperment, hair coat and activity level are the other things to compare. Look into personality traits of the two breeds. That will tell you a lot. Chihuahuas tend to be very protective of thier owner and can sometimes be scared when people come visit. Yorkies can sometimes need a lot of grooming, either prof. or just daily brushing. House breaking can be complicated to, however both of those breeds can learn to use litter boxes. If you can talk to as many owners of each breed as you can, they will give you the best info. However every dog has a different personality. I hope this helps.... there are so many types of dogs to choose from. I don't want to preach.... but shelter dogs can be just as good.

Yorkies and Chihuahuas are great breeds of dogs for an apartment living.Check out this breed too; the Papillon is very cute and small, not so yippy either.Good luck on your search
